The AP Biology course is designed to be the equivalent of a two-semester college introductory biology course. AP Biology is designed around four “big ideas” (Evolution, Energy, Information and Systems) and the enduring understandings that students should retain from their previous courses. In addition to a deep and meaningful understanding of the four big ideas, students who complete an AP Biology course develop skills in scientific investigation and reasoning. The goal of my tutoring in AP Biology is to help students merge factual knowledge with scientific practices and understanding so that they are able to achieve all of the goals of an AP course.
The combination of enhanced content understanding and better insight into science practice skills through my tutoring program helps students to better understand the course material and become more efficient in their examination of test questions and problems.
The AP Chemistry course is designed to be the equivalent of a two-semester college introductory chemistry course. AP Biology is designed around four “big ideas” (Scale, Proportion, and Quantity; Structure and Properties of Substances; Transformations; and Energy) and the enduring understandings that students should retain from their previous courses. In addition to a deep and meaningful understanding of the four big ideas, students who complete an AP Chemistry course develop their skills in scientific investigation and reasoning. The goal of my tutoring in AP Chemistry is to help students merge factual knowledge with scientific practices and understanding so that they are able to achieve all of the goals of an AP course.
The combination of enhanced content understanding and better insight into science practice skills through my tutoring program helps students to better understand the course material and become more efficient in their examination of test questions and problems.
AP Statistics prepares students to collect, analyze, and extrapolate data. Course topics include data-based predictions, variation and distribution, patterns and uncertainty, conclusions, and decisions. AP Statistics is designed around four “main ideas” (Data Analysis, Probability and Simulation, Selecting Statistical Methods and Statistical Augmentation). AP Statistics equates to an introductory, non-calculus college course. Coursework emphasizes sampling and experimentation, probability and simulation, and statistical inference, ultimately training students to expand their conceptual reasoning skills. The goal of my tutoring in AP Statistics is to help students move from problem-based thinking to more intuitive-based thinking so that they are able to achieve all of the goals of this AP course.
The combination of enhanced content understanding and better insight into mathematical operations and skills through my tutoring program helps students to better understand the course material and become more efficient in their examination of test questions and problems.
AP Music Theory is a college-level course for highly motivated students with a serious interest in music. In AP Music Theory, students complete coursework equivalent to that of a first year college course in music theory. AP Music Theory includes instruction in sight-singing, ear-training, and melodic and harmonic dictation practice in addition to instruction in aural and written theory skills and concepts. The goal of my tutoring in AP Music Theory is to allow the student, in a supportive and non-judgmental environment, to practice the aural and writing skills needed to perform well on the AP Music Theory exam.
The combination of enhanced content understanding and in-person practice of singing and listening skills through my tutoring program helps students to better understand the course material and become more efficient in their preparation for both the aural and written portions of the AP exam.
